2010 Mourvedre Rose
We love rose and are very proud of our 2010 Mourvedre Rose. It’s the first time that we’ve used Mourvedre as the primary grape for our rose, and we could not be happier with the results – or with the response we’ve received for the wine since its release.
We’ve decided to go with Mourvedre because it’s not as ‘in your face fruity’ as we find many Grenache-dominated roses. The grapes tends to bring a slightly herbaceous, quenching quality to the wine, making it a rose that actually performs really well with food.
Here’s what the Rhone Report had to say (though I don’t find the same ‘candied’ qualities that he does . . .):
An intense and powerful Rose, the 2010 Tercero Mourvedre Rose delivers a decidedly spice-driven profile with candied cherry and strawberry fruit characteristics front and center. Medium-bodied on the palate, with a polished, crisp, clean profile, this has solid mid-palate fruit, but gets tangy and borderline tart on the finish. It’s classically dry on the finish and will be very food friendly. Drink over the coming 2-3 years.
