Well, there’s been no frost since my last post – all of three days ago! – but we’ll take it thus far!
I’m excited about this weekend’s Santa Barbara County Vintner’s Festival, the annual Spring get together of the 100+ wineries that are members of this association (and hopefully we’ll add the others in our area who are NOT currently members soon . . . ). Together with over 30 local food purveyors, this really is a fun event to attend. Many wineries will be pouring recently bottled wines, including a number of 2010 whites and roses. I will be pouring tank samples of our new 2010 The Outlier and our 2010 Mourvdre Rose, both to be bottled next week.
One thing that ‘bothers’ me about this weekend, though, are the number of people who say to me that they do not like attending the festival itself because it is ‘too big’ or ‘too crowded’. Well, after having poured at various wine events around the country, I can honestly say that this is simply NOT the case with this festival at all! It is quite spread out, offers great food to have with the wines, and you get the opportunity to try a number of wineries’ wines that DO NOT HAVE THEIR OWN TASTING ROOMS – such as OUR WINES!!!!! This truly is a bonus – no, I’m not being ‘selfish’ here, as there are plenty of other wineries in the same boat as mine.
So if you are in town, or coming up to our area, or even THINKING of coming up to the area, consider dropping by River Park in Lompoc on Saturday afternoon and enjoying the best that our area has to offer wine-wise . . . and remember to stop by and say hi if you can.
